It's not just Ronan and Emma who are best mates, bandmates J and Sean are so close they're like family...
It was Rich who once said, "J and Sean are more like a father-son than anything else." No guessing who the father is. "He's got a bit of a temper on him." Sean says of J. "He'll break anything. If he spills a drink on his clothes, then he'll just smash the cup, full stop!" And if you spill his drink? "He'll shout a bit more."
Although he probably wouldn't admit it, Sean needs J to shout at him every now and then. As Rich puts it, "sean can be a bit lazy, and when he's being bone idle he needs J to say, 'C'mon Sean'." Not that the shouting is ever that serious. "Sean's like my younger brother," shrugs J, "Brothers argue sometimes."
Of course, just 'cos Sean is like the younger brother doesn't mean J doesn't rely on him sometimes. In fact, J, who admits that he hides his feelings from his family, usually opens up to one person: "Sometimes I stay up all night talking to Sean."
According to J, he and Sean not only like that same things, they often react the same way: "We're like the same person, sometimes."
Part of this is down to their similar northern backgrounds, which is why Abs often complains that the two pf them are "professional northerners": "Both J and Sean go on all the time about mushy peas and grazy, and how you can never get grazy on your chips dwn here!"
They may live in the south these days, but the two "professional northerners" are so close thats ometimes people think they were an item. "I do love Sean to bits," laughs J, "but in a platonic, brotherly kind of way. That's it!" Having said that J will admit one thing, "We should get married though, we'd be perfect together!"
